Part Of Fox River Closed Due to Hazardous Conditions

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is prohibiting recreational river traffic due to flooding, swift currents and floating debris.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced the closure of the Fox River from the mouth of the river at Pistakee Lake, south to the Bridge Street bridge in Millington, effective starting 4 p.m. Monday, May 18.

IDNR Conservation Police reported that flooding, swift currents, floating debris and submerged structures have created hazardous conditions on the Fox River leading to the closure of the river and prohibiting recreational river traffic.

The conditions are also treacherous for emergency services personnel called upon to rescue persons involved in boating mishaps.

The following counties are impacted by the closure: Lake, McHenry, Kane and Kendall counties.
